This is our manifesto. It will be evolving with us.
The state of the sandwich is, of all things, a double entendre - because we want to talk about sandwiches, their place in today’s world and how much we love them, and also the state (the commonwealth, if you wanna be a dick about it) that the founders of this site hail from: Pennsylvania.
The state of the sandwich: we’d say pretty, prettaaayyyyyy good. We’ll let you know on a case-by-case basis, since that’s what this site is about.
We think that Pennsylvania can and should bear the burden of being the Sandwich State (and because Keystone State is so played). This massive responsibility will be primarily shouldered by the great cities that form the bread of this meaty state sandwich - Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. They are both somewhat famous for their sandwiches, Philly for their legendary cheesesteaks, and Pittsburgh for it’s incomparable Primanti’s sandwiches. But this state’s sandwich résumé doesn’t stop there. It is also home to the world’s largest hamburger. I’m sure there are other sandwiches out there that are slipping under the radar, but that’s what this site is about, too: finding them.
And our pledge is to find those burgers, those subs, those open-faced marvels of bread and fixins, and bring them to your doorstep. Or your computer, whichever is easier.
